Scheduling:
Someone is available to take your call Monday through Sunday (as well as Holidays) by 7:30am. Please call as early in the day as possible for same day appointments. Evening appointments are generally not given out in the morning if there are earlier appointments available. Every effort will be made to schedule your child with the pediatrician of your choice, however, this may not be possible for a same day appointment.
Monday through Friday We regularly schedule appointments Monday through Friday beginning most days at 8:00am or 9:00am until 4:00pm.
Weekends and Holidays We see patients on a limited basis on Saturday and are generally here for the morning only. On Sundays we will see patients in the morning and afternoon. An additional fee is charged for weekend appointments. Midcoast Pediatrics is also open on holidays. Like a Saturday, we see patients on a limited basis. We do not schedule in advance on holidays and patients are scheduled only for urgent medical needs. There is an additional charge for holiday visits. You should be aware that not all insurance companies will cover these additional charges.
Prenatal Visits Expectant parents are welcome to schedule appointments to meet any of our pediatricians.
New Patients:
Sick Visits and Well Child Checks Midcoast Pediatrics is currently accepting new patients. Please be sure to fill out a medical record release form at your child's previous physician's office, or ask our office for one so that we may request your child's medical record. Having your child's past medical record will ensure continuity of your child's medical care, and is required before scheduling your first non-urgent appointment.
Complicated/Extended Visits for Chronic Issues If your child is new to our practice and you are calling to schedule an appointment to discuss asthma, ADD/ADHD or other chronic condition, it would be very helpful to us if prior to coming in for the appointment, you could fill out a records release form to have your child's medical records sent to us. Once our office receives the records, one of our physicians can review the record so that he/she can become familiar with your child in advance of your appointment. Records release forms can be obtained from either your child's previous physician or from our office
Confirmation Calls As a courtesy, our office will call the day before your child's appointment to remind you of the next day's appointment. We ask that you please inform us, whenever possible, 24 hours (and at the latest, two hours) in advance of not being able to keep an appointment. This enables us to offer your canceled appointment to another patient who might be in need of it. In addition, other than at Walk-in time, it is expected that patients will call for an appointment before coming to the office.
Appointments not kept Failure to notify us in advance of your inability to keep an appointment will result in a letter being sent to you to inform you of the missed visit, and may result in a charge for the missed visit.
