| Midcoast Pediatrics Billing Office Welcome to Midcoast Pediatrics. Our Billing Office is here to help you. Whether you have a question about your bill, or insurance our Billing Office staff is available five days a week to offer you guidance. The following information is designed to assist you in understanding the payment policies of our practice. Contacting the Billing Office Please feel free to contact the Billing Office if you have questions or if you need additional information about insurance or your bill. Billing office hours are Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm. The office phone number is (207) 721-8333. Our fee schedule is available upon request. You are responsible for payment for services we provide to your children. We will do our best to make payment as easy as possible for you. We participate with most health plans including: Anthem, Aetna, Martins Points US Family Health Care, Harvard, MedNet, Cigna, Tricare, and Mainecare. Although your family medical expenses are your responsibility, as a courtesy to you, we are happy to submit your claims to your insurance company, as long as you present your insurance card at every visit. We apologize for this, but please understand that we request your card out of necessity. Many employers frequently change plans and carriers throughout the year. This makes it necessary for us to request your card at each visit in order to maintain current insurance information. In order for your claim to be paid, we must have the correct information for your child and this includes knowing the plan and account number that was in place on the date of service. Since many insurance companies have a filing time limit it is important that we have valid insurance information on the day of service so that we can bill the insurance company promptly. If the claim is submitted too late it will be rejected and you will be liable for the payment. Some services are not covered by insurance. We will do our best to let you know about such issues in advance, but insurance coverage rules sometimes change. You are responsible to understand the coverage rules of your insurer. Services not covered are your responsibility. Please note: There is an additional charge for visits on weekends, walk-in time, evenings after 6 pm and holidays. We offer these hours as a service to you, but the surcharge for after hours care may not be covered by some insurance plans. Therefore, this additional fee is also your responsibility unless covered by your insurance. Credit Card and PayPal Payments We accept VISA and Mastercard credit cards for patient payments. You may use these credit cards to pay for co-pays, a balance due, or to pay for services not covered by insurance. Please click here to make a payment with PayPal Billing Policies Payment is expected at the time of service to save expense of billing and hold fees down. The cost of sending a single statement is approximated $5. Co-Pays are expected at the time of each visit. These are a part of our fee from the insurer. Your health plan is responsible for setting up co-pay policies and we simply act as the collection system. Billing is done monthly. As noted above it costs us about $5 for each bill sent. Outstanding Accounts/Special Arrangements for Payment This Practice is a small independent, physician-owned practice not owned by Mid Coast Hospital or any other large entity. We struggle to maintain this independence in a difficult business environment for small medical practices. It is not fair to our staff and other patients of Midcoast Pediatrics when we are faced with large unpaid accounts. This affects our ability to pay staff and run the office in a high quality manner. We do understand that there may be times of economic hardship in a family. If you find that you are financially unable to pay your bill with us completely, we ask that you speak with Alice, the Office Manager in order to set up a payment plan. We will work with you to find an arrangement that is acceptable to your circumstances. |
